I happen to be brutally honest. As a matter of fact, the older I get, the less I care about being "politically correct" and prefer the direct, "cut to the chase" method of communicating with people and I prefer the same from the people I deal with it. I have a "zero tolerance" for people who talk big but have no game or substance behind them. They know how to talk but there is no walk behind them. Now you might be asking yourself, "TC, why is this a problem?" The reason my brutal honesty is a problem is that, while most find that style to be a refreshing change of pace, others do not like it because they want to be "told what they want to hear." They want me to pat them on the back, tell them what they want to hear and send them down the road to mediocrity. They want someone to coddle them and tell them how EASY it is to change their life and that it is ok to stay in their little comfort zone and everything will be alright and we can all sing "Kum Ba Yah" at night around the campfire while we roast marshmallows together. I refuse to do it and always have. What you do not know is why I chose to take such a strong stance when we went online some 5 years ago with our first real estate investing course. I know what it is like to look in the seat cushion of our sofa for quarters so I could buy my family a loaf of bread because times had gotten so bad. In those times, all I ran across was people telling me what "I wanted to hear" and not the truth. Big talkers. All I ever wanted in those times was for someone, anyone, to just shoot straight with me and all I got was B.S. artists. I have never forgotten the FRUSTRATION I felt at those times and it is that memory that guided and shaped my "Brutal Honesty" policy. Over the last 5 years that we have been online, we have become known as the source for where you get it straight whether you like it or not. People trust Vickie and I because our word can be trusted and they know it. To be online and in business for 5 years is remarkable in and of itself. But when you can be online and be as successful as we have and also have an impeccable reputation both online and off... well that is something extra special. You do not have integrity because you say you do. Integrity must be earned. Day by Day, Week by Week, Year by Year, and I am proud to say that we have earned integrity the old-fashioned way. Because we did not just "fall off the turnip truck yesterday", but have been here, on duty, for over 5 years, we have seen people come and go. Why it is that people will buy real estate course after real estate course, go to one "Boot Camp" after another and get involved in one coaching program after another and still not do 1 real estate deal? As I said, this bothered me so much so that I decided to do something about it. I conducted a survey of our extensive database of students and subscribers and asked them one question.
