However, soon a common thread began to emerge, probably best summed up by a quote from Hippocrates all those years ago when he said “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.” This was further enforced when we learned that back at the beginning of the 1900s, Professor John Beard from Edinburgh University was studying embryology.  He discovered a need for pancreatic enzymes to be involved in halting our natural healing processes once the function was complete.  If this healing process was not halted a mass was created.  Today we call this mass a tumour or cancer, be it esophagus cancer or any other type of tumour based cancer.  And guess what he found influenced whether or not those pancreatic enzymes were available when needed – yep you guessed it – diet!  Pages 34 and 35 of our book go in to this in further detail, so I won’t bore you with more of it here.
