You make a video, upload it to YouTube, and wait for visitors to start pouring in to your website.   Yeah. Right. I was skeptical. You can't blame me, though.   After all, I thought people on YouTube were just looking for videos of people crashing cars or of cats flushing toilets. They couldn't be interested in getting anything but a laugh or two, right?   But I figured I'd give video marketing a shot...   I Decided To Do A "Video Marketing" Experiment...       Since this was just an experiment, I didn't bother making a video for one of my own products or services.   Instead, I logged into an affiliate network (Hydra Media) and promoted someone else's business instead.   I found an affiliate "offer" that paid $1.30 per lead. In other words, every time I sent a visitor to my affiliate link and they just submitted their email address, I got paid.   I quickly made a video that promoted this offer and advertised a simple website that just redirected to my affiliate link.   After I had made my video, I went ahead and submitted it to a bunch of video sharing sites, such as YouTube, Google Video, MegaVideo, and so on.   One Problem: My "Video" Was Awful!   As I was submitting my video, I was expecting no results at all making my work a complete waste of time!   After all, my video was HORRIBLE...   I literally spent something like 20 minutes actually working on this video. What's more, I made it in Windows Movie Maker, a very simple (and free) video editor.   My so called "video" was just composed of a few images, a little text, and some background music.   No professional video recording. No professional editing. I didn't even get "on camera" for the video.   Most of all... my video wasn't at all VIRAL. It wasn't something that people would share with each other.   Would you be optimistic about this? I sure wasn't.   Surprise! Could This Be Working?   A day or two later, I checked my statistics after I had uploaded my video.   To my surprise, I had already made $6.25. The next day, $11.25. It became more and more until...   The next month, I made over $200+ just from that silly little video!   Here's a screenshot of my statistics of the results from that video...     Sure, $748 isn't a fortune. But it's pretty impressive for a video that took 20 minutes to make.   And this isn't about making a few hundred bucks as an affiliate, anyway. It's about a whole new marketing and video promotional technique...   Then I Realized Why This Little Test Was A Success   So why was this test a success?   Well, it sure wasn't my video. It definitely wasn't a video that would be "Featured" on any video sharing site.   The "secret" to the video's success was this: instead of uploading to just the most popular video sharing website, YouTube, I distributed my video to a bunch of different video sharing sites.   You see, most people only submit their videos to YouTube, reasoning that it is the most popular video sharing website.   However, there are lots more video sharing sites that you can gets tons more views and website visitors from as well!
