From the Desk of Ryan Moran Dear struggling entrepreneur, I've got to confess something to you. Although I'm a 19-Year old college student who generates a full time income on the internet... although many look to me as an authority on the subject and often come to me for advice... although I have several successful products and websites and campaigns... although I do very well for myself at a very young age, I used to really struggled in one key area: search engine optimization. For the first year of my internet marketing career, I struggled, like you do, to get anything to show up on the first pages of Google. As a result, I pumped out thousands of dollars (really) every month in Google Adwords and other advertising, because I simply couldn't figure out a successful way to do search engine optimization. Even with that amount of ad spend, a profit could still be made, but it sure wasn't fun shipping out huge checks to Google every single month. Then, one day, my ad campaigns got hit hard. Minimum bids went through the roof, and I no longer could turn a profit. Google, the company that I bow down to and pay thousands to every single month, turned around and slapped me and killed my ad campaigns. It doesn't seem fair, does it? Riddle me this......does it make sense to you that Google, the company that we pay thousands of dollars to, consistently makes it MORE difficult for us to advertise with them? When my Adwords got slapped, my income stream got shut off, and I was stuck. I Was At A Crossroads... Every internet marketer reaches a point when he or she is faced with a decision: Do you give up, or do you break through this barrier? This was one of those times, because I knew that I had to learn a whole new skill. Getting off of Adwords and into the organic listings with SEO was something that I had never successfully accomplished - and I'd be willing to bet that you've had the same problem. After all, getting to the first page of Google SOUNDS great. It means loads of targeted traffic, more visitors, more money, and you never have to pay a dime. So, it sounds great in theory, but it seemed like such a laborious process. Nevertheless, I had no choice. I experimented with some things, and I failed again and again. I felt like I could make the most search-engine friendly site known to man, and it would get buried in the search results, as if Google had a personal vendetta against me. I could accumulate all kinds of links, but there would be zero visible results. Every once in a while, I might find something that would seem to make a difference, but my failures far and away outnumbered my successes. It felt like I took two steps back for every step that was taken forward. However, I had promised myself that I would figure out a better way to do things, and I couldn't go back to relying on advertising. After all, I didn't expect search engine optimization to be easy. Therefore, I pressed on, and I took note of each of the little successes that I had along the way. Over time, those little successes started to add up. After all, one could say that I didn't really "fail" at SEO, but instead found out a bunch of ways that didn't work! And in truth, you can't expect to see different results if you keep repeating the same process over and over. Therefore, I took those little successes and strung them together. Eventually, I had a list of things that I knew helped me in the organic search engine rankings. By implementing this process, I could perform ONLY the tasks that helped me and NONE of those that had no effect. The result? Absolute shock. My landing pages didn't just creep up the search engine rankings - my landing pages SOARED to the top! Within just a few weeks, I had several of my landing pages on the front page of Google. A few weeks later, more of them soared to the top. For each page that I repeated the process, they flew up to the top of the search engine results. I found what worked, and I found what didn't work. After much trial and error, I was able to put together a process that worked like gold. My first strokes of significant success occurred in only 48 hours; I put up a landing page, applied the strategies that I had found to work, and, in two days, had the #4 spot for a term that received over 125,000 searches per month.
